Sony has announced one of the biggest changes in PlayStation history: new PlayStation games released from January 2028 onward will be digital-only.
The company says it will end physical disc production for new releases as more players shift toward digital purchases through the PlayStation Store.

Games released before January 2028 will not be affected, and titles already planned for physical release will still launch on disc. After the cutoff, however, new PlayStation releases will only be available digitally.
The move marks a major turning point for collectors and players who still prefer owning physical games, especially when it comes to resale, preservation, and long-term ownership.
